Summary of Services

The mission of the Support Network is to empower our diverse community to live free from domestic violence. Our services include a 24-hour toll-free crisis line, an emergency shelter, counseling, information and referrals, support groups, safety planning, legal services and community education presentations. Staff and volunteers also contact police reported victims of domestic violence to inform them of their rights and resources. All Support Network services are completely confidential, are either free or low-cost and are offered in both Spanish and English.

Services Provided in Fiscal Year 2004-2005

Last year Support Network staff and volunteers answered 4,358 crisis calls, sheltered 245 women and children, assisted 834 clients with 7,819 counseling sessions, 2402 advocacy and referral services and 3,146 other essential items. Community educators served nearly 9,000 participants from law enforcement, local schools, hospital staff, social workers and court personnel.

Highlights and Accomplishments

We are implementing our multicultural strategic plan, which includes making services to children a priority, providing culturally competent services to the Latino community and providing support services to the whole family. During the past year, we have strengthened our collaborative efforts with other service providers in Santa Clara County by establishing a satellite site at the Columbia Neighborhood Center, participating in the Greenbook Project and by coordinating our program development efforts.

What makes Support Network unique?

  • The Support Network is the only domestic violence agency located in North Santa Clara County.

  • We have the only domestic violence toll-free bilingual hotline in Santa Clara County.

  • Our emergency confidential shelter is different than other domestic violence shelters because we are the only shelter where families live in apartments and are not living in a dormitory setting.

  • When providing counseling and therapy to survivors of domestic violence our priorities are safety and empowerment

The Support Network is committed to working collaboratively with the other agencies in the county. Every month all of the Executive Directors meet to discuss service provisions and collaborative opportunities. Our priority is to best serve families in need of critical services and we are committed to approaching the problem collectively and resourcefully by networking with other service providers.
